Thurs., 5/19 - Saint Mont-Michel - Nevers - 500 miles

A day of driving, St. Louis Montfort, Sr. Josepha Menendez and 500 miles on the bus (May God bless our bus driver).  We started the morning with a three hour drive to the Basilica of St. Louis de Montfort in Saint-Laurent-Sur-Sevre. Fr. Ray celebrated Mass at the side chapel on the tomb of St. Louis de Montfort (known for his powerful devotion to our Blessed Mother) and Bl. Marie Louise Trichet.  After Mass we had lunch by the river and then drove two hours to Poitiers to visit the grave of Sr. Josepha Menendez (The Way of Divine Love details her visions and messages entrusted to her by Christ).  On the way to the cemetery we passed a French protest angered at a new law loosening restrictions on employers to fire employees.  We then had one last drive of 3 plus hours to Nevers for dinner and hotel check-in.  The time on the bus flew by with a rosary, morning prayer, a talk by Fr. Ray and one by Meg Hunter-Kilmer, some brief consolation shares and some karaoke - congratulations to the winner Jared Franz and to the second place duo of our guide and bus driver.

The cemetery in which Sr. Josepha is buried is the most Catholic
of any cemetery we've ever seen.  Most tombs had
a crucifix on top, with some having two or three.

Our last pilgrim, Sarah Schacterle, arrived tonight in Nevers.
She just finished exams while studying for a semester abroad
in Gaming, Austria with Fransciscan University.

With no taxis available, our bus driver stepped away from his dinner
to catch us leaving the hotel for a long walk to the train station to meet Sarah
so that he could offer us a ride on the bus, which was amazing
considering that he had just driven 500 miles. We have really
been blessed with our tour guide and bus driver!
